and the winner is...
game...
i can play this game,
too, you know.
of whispers behind hands and
secret smiles.
i can giggle and even
sway my hips
like you.
and if you ask nicely
or say pretty please
i might even pose for a
picture or two.
but i can promise you
this
i'll never be as
fake
as you
just a note...this is possibly one of my least favorite poems. everyone else thinks i'm insane.

unacceptable
i have discovered that it is socially unacceptable not to have a car
if you don't have one, certainly you can drive one.
no, no i can't.
i cringe every time i beg a ride, or hop in a car and someone watches.
it is culturally unacceptable not to have a car.

soccer season
this is soccer season.
i am held together with athletic tape.
kept painless with ibuprofen.
kept moving with diet coke.
kept breathing with massive amounts of albuterol.
and kept bending with ice and heating pads.

To Another
You are never going to feel like everyone else.
I wish I could tell you different, but it wouldn't be true.
But never be ashamed of being different.
God gave you this, he set this path in front of you,
because he knew you would be able to walk it.
He set the hills in your path,
because he knew you could climb them.
And he knew
that you would grow so much
on that journey
that you would climb so high
on that journey
that you would be closer to him.
I wish I could tell you different, but it wouldn't be true.
But never be ashamed of being different.
God gave you this, he set this path in front of you,
because he knew you would be able to walk it.
He set the hills in your path,
because he knew you could climb them.
And he knew
